A Minisymposium Nanotomography – under the auspices of the Rector of AGH, prof. Jerzy Lis – was held at AGH Krakow on Monday, October 16, 2023. Prof. Robert Filipek, AGH Krakow, and Prof. Ehrenfried Zschech, deepXscan GmbH Dresden, introduced the participants into the topic, followed by 6 technical talks about high-resolution imaging of the 3D structure of materials and objects. The minisymposium demonstrated the high potential of X-ray microscopy and nano X-ray computed tomography for materials research and engineering, e.g. for battery research, advanced building materials, but also for fracture mechanics and microeelectronics. After having signed a collaboration agreement between AGH Krakow and deepXscan Dresden earlier this year, this event was an essential step on the way to establish a Center for Nanotomography at AGH with a novel research infrastructure based on an innovative technology developed at deepXscan.
